Jonzac castle

Certified from 1059, the castle, set upon a natural defensive site along the Seugne, was largely put to the test during the Hundred Years’ War. Its current architecture dates from the 15th century for its dominant chatelet at the entrance and its West tower. It underwent many transformations in the 17th and 18th centuries, all the while conserving its large dry moats. The medieval fortress makes way to a comfortable and neatly ornamented main building.

Jonzac Thermal Cure

The spring walter is a mix of sulfur, sodium chloride, mixed sulfates, and rich in oligo-elements. Contrary to most thermal sources in France, Jonzac was discovered recently, less than 30 years ago. It is from the source Soenna where the water springs at to the surface at 62°C. Built in a old stone quarry, the establishment in Jonzac is the only thermal troglodyte establishment. Simultaneously with the cures, the Jonzac thermal center offers fitness and well-being stays. The treatments are set up in the form of showers, massages, cataplasms, pool or running water baths, and drinks.

Base de Loisirs Jonzac

With its beach and green spaces, the Base de Loisirs (outdoor activities center) constitutes a unique alternative to the traditional beach front. Close to the thermal cure and the city center it represents a site full of activities much appreciated by the curists and tourists, but also the residents Jonzac and the Haute Saintonge.

Visitors will find many leisure and sports activities there: swimming, archery, scaling wall, trampolines, canoes, pedal boats, sailing, blow-up structures, skate board-roller park, equestrian center, boulodrome, as well as two adventure courses in the trees to progress over the river Seugne (one of which is especially made for kids). Keep in mind there is a small fishing pond and also playpark for children…

Les Antilles de Jonzac

This 10 000 m² aquatic park is made up of a “Lagon” space: 29 °C water, a wave pool with inside sandless beach area, an outside pool, a 60 meter slide, an exterior paddling pool, a roman bath with waterfalls, and different activities are available to the lucky. A well-being area is also available where visitors can relax year-round in 32 °C water with massage jets. Also available are whirlpool baths, a sauna, a hammam, and cold plunge!

For the more athletic visitors, a cardio-fitness balcony with a view over the pools is equipped with bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, ellipticals and many other machines.
